FC Midtjylland confirmed this week that they’ve completed the signing of Ovie Ejeheri, who left Arsenal this summer.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper has signed a five-year deal with his new club, moving as a free agent after Arsenal confirmed his release at the start of June.
Ejeheri had reached the end of his Gunners contract, and the decision was made to part ways.
“Midtjylland is a club with big ambitions and one of the biggest clubs in Scandinavia,” Ejeheri said.
“I really enjoyed my time in Finland last season – both on and off the field – and I see it as a good opportunity to come to Danish football, where I see many similarities, but of course also differences.
“Now I am looking forward to working with the whole group and especially the talented goalkeepers who are at the club.”
Ejeheri spent that time in Finland on loan with SJK Seinajoki in the second half of the 2022/23 campaign, making 18 appearances and keeping nine clean sheets.
The goalkeeper had previously impressed in non-league football on loan with Chelmsford City.
Yet for whatever reason, those loans didn’t lead to anything more in 2023/24, with Ejeheri simply returning to play for the Arsenal u21s. He’ll hope to push on in senior football now that he’s got a long-term contract with Midtjylland.
