West Ham insider ExWHUEmployee reports on their Patreon page that Reiss Nelson is interested in a move to join the Hammers, and he’s made his intention clear to Arsenal.
At this stage, no fee has been agreed, but Nelson is hopeful a deal can be done before West Ham’s pre-season tour of the United States.
West Ham have a friendly on Saturday against Dagenham and Redbridge, after which they’ll head out to the U.S. for a couple of games, starting with Wolves on Saturday, July 27th.
Nelson is a key target for West Ham, according to the same source, though Crystal Palace are also interested in him.
James Benge had previously reported that Nelson favours a move away from Arsenal this summer, with Crystal Palace, West Ham United, and Brighton and Hove Albion all long-term admirers of his.
The player has returned to pre-season training with Arsenal in the meantime, but if reports are to believed, he’s hoping that a transfer elsewhere could be done very soon.
David Ornstein recently reported for The Athletic that Arsenal are looking for a fee of around £20m including add-ons to sell this summer.
Nelson still has a deal with Arsenal to 2027, with an option to extend to 2028, so there’s no pressure on Arsenal to sell.
Yet it seems the 24-year-old is starting to feel a move might be his best option, having only played 639 minutes for the Arsenal first team in 2023/24.
