A top West Ham source revealed to Claret & Hugh this morning that Niclas Füllkrug is unlikely to face Ipswich in the upcoming Premier League fixture.
Only yesterday, we were informed by the club about how important Füllkrug is to the tactics of Julen Lopetegui, so this news is sure to come as a bitter blow.
When we asked the top-ranking club insider whether the German was likely to play at the weekend, the news was not good: “NO, he’s not back until after the international break. His injury has taken longer than we first thought.”
While this news is disappointing for the club, one can only hope that Füllkrug can remain in East London and continue his fitness work in an effort to be ready to play against Tottenham on October 19th.
The £25m striker was injured while training with Germany following his goal-scoring performance against Hungary in September. Early diagnoses of tendonitis and a two-week layoff have proven to be wide of the mark.
