As per usual, the work in the transfer market by the FC Bayern Campus is quickfire and nearly impossible to keep track of, but BFW has you covered. Here is yet another round up of all the business Bayern Munich has done with their young talent:
Lukas Schneller leaves
After 12 years wearing the Bavarian red, Lukas Schneller has left the club, as confirmed by the Bayern Campus twitter account. Part of a group of goalkeepers at the club in recent years that have been affected by serious injuries, Schneller lost nearly an entire year to injury back in the 2021/22 season. But he bounced back superbly the following year, which earned him a move to SC Freiburg’s U-23 team in the 3. Liga. Unfortunately, he only played two games and never managed to take the next step in his development. At 22, it was time for Schneller to move on and he found a new home with Regionalliga side 1. FC Schweinfurt. He has already established himself as the first choice keeper at the club, starting their first two Regionalliga games.
Two long injured players extend their contracts
22-year-old midfielder Moritz Mosandl and 21-year-old defender Gabriel Marušić recently extended their contracts to 2025 and 2026, respectively, as confirmed by the club’s official website. Both players are currently dealing with long term injuries, as Mosandl remains stricken by a devastating knee injury back in August of 2023 while Marušić experienced a cruciate ligament tear back in April of 2023.
So why, when we considering these injury issues, did the club extend these two players? Perhaps the club believes in their potential, perhaps the club refuses to let long time Bavarian talents go unemployed while suffering from long term injuries, perhaps it is a mix of both. In the official announcement of the contract extensions, Halil Altintop, sporting director of the FC Bayern Campus, said that with these extensions the club intends “to give them our backing”. Regardless, it is the right thing to do. Cutting these youngsters loose now would be devastating to their careers.
Bayern extends Matteo Perez Vinlöf, loans him to Austria Wien
Bayern confirmed via their official website that 18-year-old left back Matteo Perez Vinlöf has extended his contract until 2027 and left on a one year loan to FK Austria Wien. Previously, the Austrian top flight team had loaned Frans Krätzig from Bayern, though he is now at VFB Stuttgart. With a void left at Austria Wien’s left back position and Krätzig’s successful time at the club in mind, it only made sense that Bayern’s next left back talent would go fill that void. Vinlöf has already played his first 90 competitive minutes for the club at the time of writing as Austria Wien beat up FC Pinzgau 6-0 in the first round of the Austrian Cup.
Maurice Krattenmacher talks about joining Bayern
Maurice Krattenmacher joined Bayern from SpVgg Unterhaching early in the transfer window, with the 18-year-old attacking midfielder immediately being loaned out to 2. Bundesliga side SSV Ulm. When asked about his decision to join Bayern, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, he had this to say: “I wanted to take my next step. I owe a lot to Haching, but I also wanted to get out of my comfort zone and experience something new. My first impression tells me that I did everything right. Bayern is my absolute favourite club. I also come from Munich. The talks with Bayern were very good. If they want you, you can’t say no.”
