Julen Lopetegui has so many talented young players at his disposal at West Ham United right now.
The West Ham academy is a well renowned breeding ground for some of the very best young talents in English football.
Julen Lopetegui must be delighted that there are so many talented West Ham youngsters coming through the ranks.
The Hammers head coach has already included numerous teenagers in his first-team training sessions, including the likes of Ollie Scarles.
Whilst Scarles might be the most exciting young talent we have at the London Stadium, there are plenty of others who seem to be ready to make an impact for us at Premier League level.
And one of them has just been given a really prestigious honour whilst away on international duty…
Biggest sign yet that West Ham starlet Lewis Orford is ready to shine
Lewis Orford is one of the Hammers’ brightest young players.
Mark Noble recently raved about Orford, describing the teenager as a ‘fantastic’ young player.
The 18-year-old midfielder really does have everything needed to succeed at the very highest level of the game.
And now, we have all been given the biggest sign yet that he’s ready to play elite level football.
Orford was handed the captain’s armband for the England under-19s during their 2-1 defeat to Portugal last night.
He came on as a 65th minute substitute and put in a really impressive performance.
Trust me, this boy will go to the very top, and the fact he was made captain for the England under-19s last night is a great indication that he has the whole package.
Hammers teenager Lewis Orford a star of the future
Orford has incredible technical ability, is cool calm and collected with the ball at his feet and has a wonderful array of passing in his locker.
He is extremely intelligent as well, and his positional sense for someone so young is already right up there where it needs to be.
The talented teenager came on leaps and bounds last season, and he has already trained with the first-team on multiple occasions.
It will be really interesting to keep a close eye on his progress this season.
Whilst I highly doubt that he will be able to force his way into Lopetegui’s side on a regular basis this season, I would like to think we might see him given a few substitute appearances here and there.
I have no doubts that Lewis Orford will be a star for West Ham at some point in the near future.
And the fact that he was given the captain’s armband for England’s under-21s yesterday proves that he has the leadership skills and the mentality needed to perform at the highest level for the Hammers.
