A really big Mohammed Kudus twist has just come to light, and the West Ham United fans won’t like it one little bit.
Mohammed Kudus has experienced a tough start to the 2024/25 campaign with West Ham, but he seemed to be back to his best on Saturday during our 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.
The Ghanian star actually fell out with Julen Lopetegui two weeks ago, and the Hammers head coach hauled him off at half-time during our 1-1 draw with Brentford.
However, the West Ham owners apparently immediately contacted Kudus’s representatives after the incident, in order to explain to them that everything was fine between the player and manager.
Kudus is currently on international duty with Ghana, and he has been singled out already by the president of the Ghanaian FA, who asked for more from the players.
Hopefully that’s the motivational boost he needs.
I’m hoping that he will return to action for the Hammers in fine fettle, but the news coming out today regarding the 24-year-old is very concerning indeed.
Big Mohammed Kudus twist will worry West Ham fans
So it seems like there has been a twist overnight to the rumours circulating about the West Ham star.
It was suggested yesterday by Fabrizio Romano that Liverpool aren’t specifically looking at the 24-year-old Hammers star right now.
However, Yahoo are now claiming in an exclusive report that Liverpool are in fact exploring the market for potential Mohamed Salah replacements, with Kudus being mooted as an option for the Reds.
Now, the thought of losing Kudus is obviously a hugely concerning one.
He is our best and most devastating attacking player, and we are quite simply not the same team without him.
Should Liverpool come knocking for the Ghana international in the summer, that will be all she wrote.
Mohammed Kudus leaving West Ham a formality
The Hammers star will garner huge attention in the summer of 2025, when his £85 million release clause comes into effect.
Even the most ardent of West Ham fans will surely accept that Kudus will leave next summer, if a Champions League team from England comes in for him.
The key for the Hammers and Lopetegui will be to use the money wisely when it comes to replacing the former Ajax man.
£85 million is a lot of money, and the Hammers will be able to sign two top-class attackers with that kind of cash.
Don’t get me wrong, I really don’t want Mohammed Kudus to leave West Ham, but his exit next summer will be a formality as far as I’m concerned.
Losing him will hurt, but the £85 million that we’re likely to receive for him will ease the pain, that’s for sure.
It wouldn’t surprise me one little bit if Kudus was a Liverpool player this time next year.
