According to multiple reports, a few different clubs are interested in Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka — Atlético Madrid and Napoli:
Leon Goretzka’s name is ‘at least being considered’ at Atlético Madrid and Napoli.
Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) also confirmed that Atlético Madrid’s interest in Goretzka:
@BILD confirms that Atlético Madrid are keen on Leon Goretzka and have him on their list. But it’s questionable whether the midfielder would actually leave Bayern for the Spanish side.
The situation surrounding Goretzka is fascinating. It seems as if Bayern Munich has made it clear that it is not planning with him, but the 29-year-old seems unfazed. Goretzka seems to genuinely love the club and his teammates and is also willing to fight odds in hopes of locking down a key role on the squad.
It seems like a true longshot, but maybe Goretzka is ready to battle.
Torino submitted a bid to take Union Berlin defender Robin Gosens in on a loan:
Torino have submitted loan bid to sign Robin Gosens.
It includes buy option clause to become mandatory if he’s gonna play certain number of games next season.
Buy clause value would be around €7m plus loan fee and salary covered.

Bayern Munich are fresh off a meek 1-1 draw with fifth-tier team FC Düren and are rewarded with a long-term injury to Hiroki Ito. Vincent Kompany’s second game in charge has not inspired much confidence in his tenure but it’s still early days. otherwise he’s doing his best Julian Nagelsmann impression.
In this episode, RIPLT will discuss the following:
- A recap of the Düren game
- Scrutinizing player performances
- Calling Bayern out on their lack of game coverage and why it won’t help their brand
- A look at the transfer moves made by Bayern and their league rivals (Stuttgart, Dortmund, Leipzig)
- How Hiroki Ito’s injury leads to Jonathan Tah (again)
Contrary to some reports, Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg is saying that Tottenham Hotspur is actually interested in Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa:
⚪️ Tottenham Hotspur, with a concrete interest in signing Federico #Chiesa this transfer window!
First talks with his agent Fali Ramadani have started. But no concrete negotiations at this stage.
This comes just a day after Tottenham denied having interest in Chiesa. Who knows?
Paris Saint-Germain wants Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho — and has even agreed on personal terms with him — but does not want to pay the asking price from the Red Devils.
At least not yet:
Another United winger, Jadon Sancho, has reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain, who are yet to meet his £50m asking price.
The Vincent Kompany Era is underway and fans got their first game day taste of what Bayern Munich might be when the squad dismantled FC Rottach-Egern 14-1.
Even that beatdown did not calm some of the uneasiness that fans have been feeling about how things are progressing during this offseason. So, let’s talk about that and a lot more on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show. This is what we have on tap:
- Bayern Munich never really had a shot with Xavi Simons — and what that tells us about Max Eberl.
- It’s okay to be caught somewhere between uneasy and excited about the team at the moment.
- At this stage, there might not be any difference making transfers that will help the team this season.
- Takes on House of the Dragon and Cobra Kai…and a few other random thoughts.
Manchester United is heavy into talks with West Ham over a deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka:
⚒️ New talks about a (permanent) deal of Aaron Wan-Bissaka have taken place today!
… but there’s still no verbal agreement between the player and West Ham, not even between the clubs. #MUFC
More rounds of talks and negotiations are scheduled. #WHUFC, keen to sign Wan-Bissaka but with clear financial limits.
Of course, Bissaka moving to West Ham could pave the way for Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui to leave for Manchester United.
Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC are both eyeing Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen:
Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in signing Netherlands forward Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund. Having spent time in their academy system, Malen would favour a return to the Gunners.
Bayern Munich’s training camp is well underway and things are starting to develop before the full squad has even arrived.
Whispers are emerging that some players might be in trouble — and could get some help in being convinced that they need to move on. That’s a hot topic as-is, but there is plenty more to chat about as well, so let’s get to it:
- Recent reports indicate that Vincent Kompany could use the preseason to help thin out the roster by making it clear that some players will not have a role on his squad. Who might those players be? Is this the right way to handle it? What does this say about Bayern Munich as a whole and how the perception of Bayern could change among fans and players alike.
- Bayern Munich might miss out on both Xavi Simons and Désiré Doué — and here’s why.
- Bayern Munich might be shooting itself in the foot by playing hardball with Manchester United over Matthijs de Ligt.
- Everyone should be rooting for Niklas Süle to get fully back into form (even if he is a Borussia Dortmund player).
