According to a report from journalist Ben Jacobs (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Noussair Mazraoui has informed Bayern Munich that he wants to leave the club and move to Manchester United.
There are two hold-ups from making that happen, though:
- Manchester United needs to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka
- Bayern Munich needs to agree on a transfer fee with the Red Devils.
If those two things happen, the pathway could be greased for a move. Here is what Jacobs had to say:
Noussair Mazraoui has now told Bayern he wants to leave the club, having agreed a 5-year contract with Manchester United. United are prepared to pay a package of over £15m (€17.8m), but the deal depends on a Wan-Bissaka exit first.
Much like the situation with Matthijs de Ligt, the discussions with Mazraoui, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United are too far down the road for this not to be awkward. Some have speculated that the relationship between De Ligt and Bayern Munich could be damaged because of it. If Mazraoui does not get this move to happen, will he be in the same boat?
Clearly, there needs to be a better, more efficient, and more public relations-friendly way for Bayern Munich to handle these situations in the future.
