For months, there has been speculation that Bayern Munich is looking to sell Joshua Kimmich. With the club signing João Palhinha from Fulham FC and looking to make Aleksandar Pavlović a cornerstone of the team for the next decade, the former VfB Stuttgart player may have been seen as the odd one out. But whether or not these reports were true, the club was always going to schedule talks with the club’s #6 after he returned from his vacation following his participation in the 2024 EUROs.
But things seemed to have changed quite dramatically within a week. It now seems much more likely that Kimmich will renew rather than leave, if Florian Plettenberg’s report, captured by @iMiaSanMia, is to be believed:
As things currently stand, it’s ‘very conceivable’ that Joshua Kimmich would extend his contract at Bayern beyond 2025. But there are still details to clarify.
It is important to note that a contract extension is currently still not a sure thing. But the club and Kimmich certainly seem to have made an awful lot of progress for just a week’s worth of talks…
