According to a report from kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement on a deal for center-back Jonathan Tah. However, the Bavarians must sell Matthijs de Ligt before Tah can pack his bags:
Breakthrough in the negotiations for Jonathan Tah. Bayern and Leverkusen have reached an agreement in principle for the defender. The fee agreed is the region of €25m fixed plus €5m add-ons. However, the transfer is not done yet and depends on the sale of Matthijs de Ligt. Bayern would only finalize the Tah signing once the Dutchman is sold.
If you are a fan of Tah, you should be feeling good about this as De Ligt’s transfer to Manchester United will almost assuredly go through. The interesting part of the De Ligt situation will be the spin put on it from the Bayern Munich front office after the transfer goes official.
Surely, it will be posed that De Ligt, a top performer and popular player with fans, wanted to leave and asked for the move, but it will forgotten as to why that came to be (Thomas Tuchel benching him for no good reason, Vincent Kompany not wanting him).
FC Hollywood at its best.
Regardless, Tah appears set on this move and will compete with Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, Josip Stanišić, Hiroki Ito, Eric Dier, and maybe Tarek Buchmann (if he ever gets fully healthy) for time at center-back.
