Well, after some grand plans of selling off as many as nine players were floated earlier this summer for Bayern Munich, it looks like the list has been paired down to just four players — Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Bryan Zaragoza, and Kingsley Coman.
Even then, Bayern Munich might only just loan away Coman and Zaragoza. Check out Plettenberg’s report:
FC Bayern now focused on four main departures: Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Bryan Zaragoza (loan) and Kingsley Coman (loan or sale).
All the other candidates for sale are expected to stay at this stage.
The transfers of Désiré #Doué and Jonathan #Tah are to be finalized with the proceeds from the sales of De Ligt and Mazraoui.
Most important sale to obtain further approvals from the supervisory board:
De Ligt to Manchester United for €50m + add-ons ✔️
So…what happened? Well, Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies both seem content to ride out the last year of their respective deals, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry will not entertain a move, and Leroy Sané seems like he is getting a contract extension.
What all of that means is that if Désiré Doué and Jonathan Tah are, indeed, brought in, there will be an absolute logjam of players on the backline and at wing — which could prove difficult for Vincent Kompany to manage this season.
Manchester United and Arsenal FC both like the idea of getting Federico Chiesa on the cheap:
Manchester United and Arsenal are both interested in a cut-price deal for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, who has been frozen out in Turin ahead of a summer exit.
We are in the home stretch of the summer transfer window and Bayern Munich still has some moves to make to help thin out the herd on the roster. Who might stay? Who might go? That will all be determined in the next few weeks.
Given all of that, we have a lot to discuss. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- The season is starting to feel real isn’t it?
- With less than a month left in the transfer window, Bayern Munich has to finalize some moves and potentially make a few others. Check out Bayern Munich’s final “for sale” list.
- Why Xavi Simons chose RB Leipzig over Bayern and why it might not be the last we hear on him in these parts.
- The latest on Joshua Kimmich and why it is not such a certainty that he will sign a contract extension.
If you were watching the German broadcast of the USWNT’s 1-0 victory over Germany in the Olympics on Tuesday, you got an unexpected dose of Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller:
Leave it to Müller.
Philipp Max’s wild career odyssey will take him to Greece next:
⚪️ DONE DEAL: Philipp #Max will join Panathinaikos Athen with immediate effect ✔️
Total agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt has been reached. 30 y/o left-back will undergo his medical today. He’s on his way.
▫️Transfer fee: €1m all-in
▫️Contract until 2027 or 2028.
Tottenham Hotspur could be taking a look at making a deal for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen:
Tottenham Hotspur have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, with the Blues already in talks over a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku.
Bayern Munich went to Seoul, South Korea and came away with an impressive win over Tottenham Hotspur, dominating the game and scoring two goals. Meanwhile, on the PR side of things, Thomas Müller has been getting more attention than ever. Players, coaches, and executives can’t stop talking about how much of a “legend” he is, leading to a oversaturation of common buzzwords. Is something afoot?
In this episode, INNN discusses the following topics:
- The five major things Vincent Kompany got RIGHT vs Spurs.
- Why this matters for the upcoming season.
- Why some players seemed to settle into the new system despite a lack of prior training.
- Similarities (and differences) to Pep, Nagelsmann, and Flick.
- Putting the brakes on the hype train (just a little).
- Why loaning Bryan Zaragoza seems like a good idea.
- Conspiracy: Bayern Munich has begun to plan the “end” of Thomas Müller, and the current PR is a tool to make that happen.
Julián Álvarez is drawing a lot of interest as Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid appear to be the frontrunner to land the Manchester City attacker:
Arsenal have joined Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético Madrid in the race to sign Manchester City forward Julián Álvarez but may need to make further sales to fund his arrival, with City demanding £80m in a deal with add-ons.
The interest from Atlético Madrid could be very serious:
Manchester United is also reportedly very serious about Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte:
Been told that Manuel #Ugarte still would like to join Manchester United as he’s keen on their project ✔️
But there’s still no agreement in sight between Paris Saint-Germain and ManUtd. In terms of the transfer fee, there is still a huge gap. But the clubs remain in contact.… pic.twitter.com/eHdq8N1KsU

Atlético have also inquired about him in recent weeks. But now they are finalizing the deal with Conor Gallagher. Chelsea was pushing for Ugarte last summer.
ManUtd, exploring more options for central midfield.
Bayern Munich came out of the gates flying against Tottenham Hotspur during the friendly between the two teams in South Korea.
In what was — by far — Bayern Munich’s best half of play during this preseason, the team was electric, played with high energy, and generally made life hell for Tottenham. Using an early goal from Gabriel Vidović, Bayern Munich never really relented until late in the match to ultimately capture a 2-1 victory.
Needless to say, it was an impressive showing, so let’s not delay the excitement and get talking. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
- A look at the starting XI.
- A rundown of the scoring and subs.
- Some general thoughts on just how good — and FUN — Bayern Munich looked.
- A pat on the back for Vincent Kompany.
- If Bayern Munich can get this version of Serge Gnabry, there is no reason to keep trying to sell him.
- Did any concerns arise? Well, yeah, but just a few.
It still does not look easy, but Germany international Deniz Undav could end up going back to VfB Stuttgart if cooler (and sensible) heads prevail:
⚪️ Confirmed: Brighton have made some concessions to VfB Stuttgart regarding a possible #Undav transfer, as per @MeinVfB ✔️
However, the deal remains very difficult to execute, as Brighton need to make further moves, and Stuttgart will not increase their offer of €27-30m.
As reported, VfB are intensifying talks with alternatives.
Brighton also getting annoyed with the negotiations and want clarity. Undav has publicly renewed his commitment to VfB in the last few days.
Could Aston Villa really be considering a move for Chelsea FC striker Romelu Lukaku? Maybe (we assume):
Aston Villa have agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign striker Romelu Lukaku, who is currently refusing to enter into talks with Unai Emery’s side as he continues to wait for Napoli to strike an agreement.
