Coming to Bayern Munich this offseason the message and mentality was still the same for manager Vincent Kompany. The message being he has high expectations for the team despite coming to a new club.
“Why would you change your mindset because you’re working with a different club? You should always want to win every game,” Kompany said when being asked about expectations at his new club (via @iMiaSanMia).
After a rocky season with Burnley this past season where the club was relegated in the 19th spot in the Premier League. The year prior, he led Burnley to 101 points and took the club back to topflight at the first attempt as winners of the Championship.
Kompany has high expectations for the club, some might even say higher than the club itself. Highlighting his competitive nature he has had all of his life.
“I’ve always been like that, since the youth level. I was born with that mindset. The club can’t have higher expectations than I have of myself. I think we fit together very well,” Kompany said.
Kompany looks to return Bayern to the top of the Bundesliga to accomplish his own expectations.
