Bayern Munich and Manchester United appear to have everything settled on the long-anticipated transfers of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg:
Understand that Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have already said their goodbyes to the team of FC Bayern ✔️
If everything goes well, the medical checks for both are scheduled to take place on Monday. #MUFC
Both players will sign a contract until 2029 + 1. Bayern will receive €70m in total as bonuses are easy to achieve as reported and confirmed.
This will likely turn the page on a few bizarre chapters for the careers of De Ligt and Mazraoui — two very good players, who quickly fell out of favor for undisclosed reasons (well, undisclosed as it pertains to the team detailing why).
When asked by Bild about the situation, Bayern Munich board member for sport, Max Eberl, was as open as he could be at this stage (via @iMiaSanMia):
Max Eberl on whether there will be something to announce soon regarding de Ligt and Mazraoui: “It looks like it”
Eberl on possible further new signings: “We’ll see. We’ve already bought players and already have a squad that is very, very strong.”
If everything goes smoothly with the medical exams, an announcement could happen as soon as Monday, which would allow the two players to formally move on and take the next steps for their respective careers.
