England defender Marc Guehi’s future is expected to be resolved in the next 48 hours with Crystal Palace and Newcastle in advanced talks over a near £70million swoop.
More discussions between the two clubs took place on Monday and Mail Sport has learned that an agreement is close.
If Palace accept Newcastle’s next bid, it will be up to Guehi to decide whether he wants to leave London for Tyneside ahead of discussing personal terms.
Guehi is Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s No 1 transfer target this summer and the club have been working tirelessly to deliver his signing.
But Palace have so far rebuffed four offers, the most recent one a deal worth a guaranteed £60million plus an addition £5m in add-ons.

However, as we head into the final days of the transfer window, Palace are now giving serious consideration to sanctioning his sale.

Palace will look to complete a deal for Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix in the coming days, although the Eagles’ pursuit of the defender is not necessarily linked to Guehi’s future.
