Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Isaac Schmidt on a permanent transfer from Swiss side St Gallen.
Full-back Schmidt, 24, has signed a four year contract at Elland Road and is the eighth summer arrival.
The Switzerland under-20 international featured and scored in St Gallen’s 1-1 draw with Trabzonspor on Thursday night in Europa Conference League qualifying.
Schmidt fulfils manager Daniel Farke’s wish for depth at full-back this summer and is capable of playing on either side of defence. He has also featured in more advanced positions in his career at St Gallen and fellow Swiss club Lausanne.
After coming through the ranks with Lausanne, he joined St Gallen in 2021 and made 108 appearances in all competitions.
Schmidt is the second deadline day arrival at Leeds following Ao Tanaka, who also joined on permanent terms from Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The Japanese midfielder completed his paperwork in time to be eligible for Saturday’s Championship match against Hull City, should Farke want to select him.
There were no outgoings for Leeds on deadline day and Schmidt’s arrival is expected to conclude both incoming and outgoing business for the summer window.
Leeds return to action on Saturday with the visit of Hull City.
