This summer, ex-Napoli standout Victor Osimhen was linked with moves to Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain. However, he didn’t make the switch to either club, and PSG wasn’t willing to pay a hefty fee for him.
Chelsea attempted a move for the striker in the final hours, but no move happened. Meanwhile, the reigning Ligue 1 champions were linked to the striker until the final week of the summer transfer window.
Nonetheless, the Nigerian international could be on the move in a few months even though he just arrived on loan to Galatasaray S.K. with no buy option.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea are eyeing a January move for Osimhen, taking advantage of a break clause in his loan deal with Galatasaray.
The report adds, citing sources, that Napoli will be eager to secure a reasonable fee for the striker rather than risk losing him for free, especially as his asking price decreases with each passing day of his contract.
Moreover, the information concludes that the Blues are keeping a close eye on his situation after missing out on him last summer. If they still see a striker as a top priority, they might be tempted to make a move in January.
After transferring from Ligue 1’s LOSC Lille to Napoli, the Nigerian international has netted 76 goals in 133 appearances, including 65 goals in Serie A. Osimhen was also pivotal in securing Napoli’s league title in the 2022-23 season.
