No Jurgen Klopp On The Touchline
After an attacking performance against Chelsea but without any goals, including a missed penalty and the Cherries first defeat of the season. For their next game, AFCB travel up to Merseyside again, where they had that exciting end to the game against Everton and our first win of the season. Be good if our side could repeat that result against the Red side on Merseyside.
Liverpool v AFC Bournemouth
Liverpool Win
Draw
AFCB Win
For the first time in nine seasons, the Cherries visit Anfield to play Liverpool where Jurgen Klopp will not be in charge of the team. He was a ‘colourful’ character (one I personally liked) stood on the touchline and will be missed. He joined their club in October 8th 2015, the Cherries first season in the Premier League. But before the end of last season, he decided to have a break from the game.
In our first Premier League away game Brendan Rodgers was the Liverpool manager, his side won 1-0. It was one of three wins in their opening eight games and after their away draw against Merseyside rivals Everton, Rodgers was relieved of his duties as Liverpool manager.
Jurgen Klopp’s first game against AFCB, was shortly after he took over as Liverpool manager and it was at Anfield in the League Cup, Liverpool won 1-0. His first game against AFCB in the Premier League was at Dean Court on 17th April 2016, Liverpool won 1-2. It was the start of 10 Premier League wins against AFCB in Klopp’s time as their manager. It also included 1 draw and 2 defeats. One of the defeats was the Cherries great 4-3 win against his side at Dean Court.
Liverpool started this season with the former Feyenoord manager Dutchman Arne Slot in charge. He has had a very good start winning all three of their Premier League games without conceding a goal. Jurgen Klopp only achieved that once in his first full eight seasons in charge as Liverpool manager. Slot’s first win was 0-2, away against newly promoted Ipswich Town. At home they beat Brentford 2-0, and Manchester United 0-3 at Old Trafford. In what seemed a surprise result after their recent results, they lost at home 0-1 against Nottingham Forest, it was Forest’s first win at Anfield for 55 years.
The last time we visited Anfield was August last year. Liverpool were a goal behind after Semenyo opened the scoring for AFCB. But Liverpool hit back with two goals in an eight-minute first-half spell, first was Diaz with the equaliser and the second was scored by Salah after his penalty was saved by Neto, but Salah put the rebound into the net to get Liverpool the lead. The home side were down to ten men when Mac Allister was sent off for a foul on Christie. But they managed to score a third, this time by Jota to make it 3-1.
In all our away league games against Liverpool, AFCB have W 0, D 1, L 6.
In all competitions, AFCB have W 2, D 3, L 17.
Liverpool Team News
Harvey Elliott is out injured.
Liverpool Player To Watch
Mo Salah, the joint-leading scorer with 3 goals and leads with 3 assists. Last season he was top scorer with 18 goals and 10 assists.
AFCB Team News
Besides long-term Tyler Adams, Dango Ouattara is our only other injury concern.
AFCB Player To Watch
Marcus Tavernier had a really good game against Chelsea and was very unlucky not to be on the score sheet. But we don’t at the moment have a player like Dominic Solanke who can regularly find the back of the net like he did last season. Hoping Evanilson will fill that role.
The Referee
Tony Harrington is in charge of this game. He was our referee for our home game last season against Manchester United.

Remember when Wilson scored our first-ever goal in the Premier League? Remember when that should have gone to Elphick away to Liverpool in our second game of the season and Liverpool went on to win the game despite players being in an offside position? Yeah I remember, we are due a win there, let’s do it boys. Do it for Tommy Elphick. – To join the conversation, click here.
