Raphael Varane is now thinking about calling time on his professional playing career after a recent injury.
Manchester United Football Club made some big decisions under INEOS over the summer, allowing some first-team regulars to walk away from Old Trafford on free transfers.
Among them, Raphael Varane. The French defender had been a starter whenever fit, though the centre-half had plenty of injury issues, making it tough for the back line to find any sort of consistency.
Varane would head to Italian side Como on a free transfer. However, his time within the sport may be coming to an end.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the former United star is now ‘seriously considering’ retirement after his recent injury blow. It’d be quite sad for the ex-Real Madrid man, who is only 31 years of age.
First and foremost, this must be a significant injury issue for Varane if he’s thinking about hanging up the boots for good.

I’m just gutted for the man. Varane has always worn his heart on his sleeve and you get the impression that he’s going to be absolutely devastated with this latest problem.
He’s played for two of the biggest clubs in the world and he deserved to go out on a high. Sadly, that now look like a distinct possibility.
It’s just a shame that Varane has always struggled with injury. I truly do believe that if his body held up, we could be looking at one of the best defenders to ever play the game. Unfortunately, persistent injury issues have made it tough for Rapha to find that consistency.
Get well soon, Rapha.
