Though normally characterized by calm play and incredible maturity far beyond his years, something was a little bit off about Bayern Munich player Aleksandar Pavlović today during the Bundesliga match against Bayer Leverkusen.
His passes were less precise and his decision making less imperious, culminating in a really poor pass that gave away a corner. Just like that, Leverkusen had a chance to score and took it. Pavlović could only look on in agony as goalscorer Robert Andrich celebrated the opening goal from a set piece that resulted from his error.
Speaking after the match, @iMiaSanMia captured Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany acknowledging Pavlović’s incredible talent but also highlighting the necessity of support when he makes a mistake: “[He is a] very talented young player. He plays with a lot of maturity. We support him when he makes a mistake and encourage him when he plays well. Hopefully he becomes a top midfielder not only in Germany but also in the world.”
Of course, Kompany and Co. were privy to Pavlović’s demonstration of his potential to become a top midfielder with his gorgeous strike from outside of the box that leveled the scores again. Support this young player and, despite the odd mistake, that is what the club can get in return.
