Tottenham Hotspur marquee summer singing Dominic Solanke has finally found his feet at White Hart Lane following initial games filled with struggles and injuries. However, the ex-Liverpool striker has come through and has been looking like his old self off late.
Yesterday, the 27-year-old was on target once again as the Lilywhites got better of Manchester United at Old Trafford, and Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou has been speaking highly of the striker and aspects that he has improved on since making his debut donning the Lilywhites badge.
Solanke shines as Spurs beat United
We can now assume that the £65m man has settled into life in North London as another goal yesterday and made it three in three games as he helped the club make it four wins on the trot in all competitions. His display against the Manchester Reds was more than the goal, though. Solanke was a constant pressure in the back and has been a dangerous presence in the box.
It was this consistent presence that churned into the third goal for the visitors yesterday as he made a clever run from the corner to get on the end of a Pape Matar Sarr flick to get behind Andre Onana and put the game to bed.
Postecoglou raves
Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou has been speaking about his centre-forward and the struggles that he came through to make his mark at White Hart Lane. He went on to praise the Lilywhites summer signing with the bunch of facets where he helps the team.
Speaking in the post-game press conference yesterday, the Australian tactician said (via Football.London):
“Dom’s overcome his crisis of confidence that lasted 180 minutes or so, and he led the line well. We’ve got a focal point up there in Dom, and he attracts the attention of the defenders and takes it away from his teammates.”
There is a lot of Harry Kane in how Ange describes Solanke, and it is no coincidence that we are suddenly seeing the likes of Brennan Johnson and other wide players shine.
