West Ham United’s winger and captain Jarrod Bowen sets a fabulous example for the next generation of young Hammer to follow both on, and off the pitch. Unlike many ‘financial journeymen’, Bowen pledged his whole career to West Ham by signing a seven year contract which will keep him at the club through his prime years. Equalling the club goalscoring record on the pitch last season and setting high standards in training, Bowen is a leader by example.
So, to be labelled ‘the next Jarrod Bowen’ or, as Cliftonville (for whom this youngster started 42 times) Chairman Jim Boyce calls him ‘a young George Best’ is praise indeed for one of West Ham’s brilliant crop of up and coming teenagers – several of whom must be on the cusp of success and eager to force themselves onto Lopetegui’s ‘future prospects’ white board.
Meet Sean Moore, a 19 year old winger from Northern Ireland, who is making waves having made 30 appearances for West Ham’s u21 side, with seven goals and three assists so far.
According to footballfancast.com The Irons have ‘The Next Jarrod Bowen’, comparing the two:” Moore was picked up due to his high quality in tight spaces, his ability to carry the ball forward, and his quality to cut inside and find the back of the net, something Bowen does regularly for the Hammers.”
West Ham’s official twitter account shows several of Moore’s goals at Rush Green. A litmus test for the future success of any club is the strength of its academy players but more importantly, the clubs ability to develop these players through to first team success, whether at London Stadium or elsewhere at the highest level.
With three goals in five games at Premier League 2 level so far this season, Moore is clearly in form and it would not be a surprise if he attracts attention from the senior team coaching staff some time soon.
