Manchester City have an incredibly exciting manager in mind to replace Pep Guardiola, and the West Ham United fans will be very interested to see who it is.
West Ham and Manchester City were very similar clubs just over a decade ago, but they have taken very different paths since then.
Pep Guardiola has made Manchester City the best team in world football over the past eight years, and has just guided them to an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Meanwhile, David Moyes oversaw the Hammers’ first major trophy in 43 years back in 2023, but aside from that we have underachieved as a club in general.
The same could be said for Man City before Guardiola took over, but now the opposite is true of them as a club.
When Moyes left the London Stadium back in May, Julen Lopetegui was brought in to replace him as the new West Ham manager.
However, many more names were linked with the Hammers job before the Spaniard.
And now Manchester City are said to be in for one of those names…
Manchester City eye unreal manager to replace Pep Guardiola
There was one man we all wanted David Sullivan to go out and get to replace Moyes in the summer.
The Hammers fans needed someone to come in who was capable of offering us a completely different playing style to what David Moyes produced for four-and-a-half years.
We wanted a possession-based playing style, with really quick patterns of play and a team that implements a high and aggressive press.
In fairness to Lopetegui, it’s still very early days, and he needs much more time before he’s judged fairly.
That said, the football that he has implemented at the London Stadium so far has been nowhere near the levels required.
Ruben Amorim was the man West Ham should have gone all out for in the summer, I’m sure many of you agree with that viewpoint.
At the end of April, it was claimed that we had opened talks with the Sporting CP manager.
Amorim flew over from London to hold a meeting with the Hammers owners – one that didn’t go very well apparently – and he returned to Sporting with his tail between his legs.
He then apologised to the Sporting fans for meeting with West Ham officials midway through a title race.
The Sporting boss was the one we should have gone all out for, there’s no doubt in my mind about that.
And now, Mix Vale over in Brazil claims that Manchester City view the 39-year-old as the ideal man to replace Pep Guardiola, when he decides to leave the Etihad.
That really doesn’t surprise me one little bit.
Ruben Amorim the new Pep Guardiola
Amorim is an exceptional young manager, and has absolutely everything needed to become the next superstar coach.
The football that he has his team playing right now is up there with the very best teams in Europe.
He likes his team to dominate the ball, but insists on a quick tempo.
His Sporting side have averaged 65.4% of the ball this season – 4.5% more than Benfica – the team with the second most possession (Fbref).
Ruben Amorim is incredibly flexible tactically, both before games and during them, and has numerous systems that he uses.
He is incredibly intense, and that shows with his demeanour on the touchline.
I have absolutely no doubts that Amorim would have taken this current West Ham team to a whole new level entirely.
Can you imagine what he would have been able to do with the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paueta?
West Ham made a big error by not pushing harder to make the Ruben Amorim deal happen, and now Manchester City eyeing him up to replace Pep Guardiola proves that in my eyes.
