There isn’t much to be positive about for West Ham right now and things have just got even worse but there’s good news for one man.
When West Ham beat Ipswich 4-1 before the international break it eased mounting pressure on Julen Lopetegui.
The Spaniard has struggled to convince since arriving in east London as David Moyes’ replacement.
The win over Ipswich was much-needed and the international break probably came at the wrong time for the Hammers.
With hindsight, though, it only masked major West Ham problems which were all too prevalent yet again in a dismal 4-1 defeat to Spurs.
West Ham went all Spursy by throwing away a 1-0 lead to lose heavily to their bitter rivals.
The second half collapse was pathetic and insipid.
But it was not surprising on the evidence of Lopetegui’s Hammers tenure thus far.
West Ham were just as bad against another big rival Chelsea and something similar happened at Liverpool too.
Dark clouds gather again over West Ham after Spurs humbling
There is a lack of discipline about Lopetegui’s side in more ways than one.
The striker situation is not helping West Ham either.
Michail Antonio – now with one goal in eight games this season – is so far past being a starting Premier League striker it’s untrue.
West Ham’s latest attempt at replacing Antonio was Niclas Fullkrug.
Hammers fans questioned the wisdom of signing a 31-year-old who lacks pace and has endured an injury ravaged career.
But Tim Steidten and Lopetegui pressed ahead with the £23.5m signing regardless.
Fullkrug has spent the last six games out injured and has no timeframe on a return.
There is even talk the German could be out until next year.
Things somehow got even worse after West Ham’s hammering at Spurs.
West Ham’s best player Kudus ruled out for over five weeks
Because West Ham’s best player is ruled out for over five weeks but it’s great news for one man.
The ill-discipline in West Ham’s performances was there for all to see.
Lucas Paqueta was guilty of it in terms of his work for the team on and off the ball.
But the Hammers’ best player at Tottenham and goalscorer Mohammed Kudus showed it by getting himself sent off.
The star boy was one of the only bright spots for West Ham as he was a thorn in Tottenham’s side throughout.
Kudus was sent off late on for a push in the face of Micky van de Ven, though.
It was adjudged to be a red card after a pitch-side VAR review.
What many West Ham fans might not realise is that means Kudus will now miss the club’s next three games against Man United, Nottingham Forest and Everton.
There is then another two-week international break.
So Kudus will now have no football for over FIVE WEEKS before he is available again for Newcastle away.
It’s good news for one Hammers star, though.

Kudus red card is great news for one Hammer
West Ham fans have been calling all season for Crysencio Summerville to be starting.
Many supporters want to see Jarrod Bowen play up front with Kudus on the right or central and Summerville on the left.
The former Leeds star came on too late against Spurs. He should have been on at half-time.
But Summerville was bright yet again and caused Tottenham problems with his pace.
Now the Dutchman will get the chance he fully deserves with Kudus out for three huge games.
He must take it with both hands. And his form in cameos thus far suggests he will.
