On-loan West Ham Academy starlet Callum Marshall continued his good form by netting for Huddersfield Town in their 3-1 victory over Bristol Rovers in EFL League One at the weekend.
This marked Marshall’s first game back after international duty with Northern Ireland, where his side secured top spot in their Nations League group. The team played out a goalless draw against Belarus before a commanding 5-0 win over Bulgaria stole headlines.
Marshall, starting as a left attacking midfielder for Northern Ireland, carried that form back to Huddersfield. The West Ham loanee doubled Huddersfield’s lead with a composed low finish inside the box after Matthew Pearson’s opener.
The victory saw Huddersfield rise to sixth place in League One, now sitting in the play-off spots. Marshall and his team face Wrexham later tonight, with a win potentially lifting them as high as 3rd in the table.
Marshall’s loan to the West Yorkshire club is in stark contrast to last season when an ill advised short term switch to West Brom set the player back. However, this seasons move has reinvigorated the whiz kid who now has his eyes on his Irons return.
Only last week, the young striker was speaking confidently about returning to the London Stadium and breaking into Julen Lopetegui’s first team; “They love me at West Ham. I have really great relationships with all the staff around the Under-21s and get on very well with Mark Noble”
