West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui has some big problems on his hands right now.
Julen Lopetegui was announced as the new West Ham head coach officially on July 1st, and he proceeded to bring nine exciting new signings to the London Stadium.
However, the Hammers boss has found it tough going so far, and the criticism aimed at him after our defeat to Tottenham increased exponentially.
However, it has been claimed that the West Ham owners will not be making any knee-jerk reactions regarding Lopetegui’s future, and are prepared to give him plenty of time to prove himself.
The real problem that Lopetegui faces is that things are set to get even harder for him, with a truly nightmarish run of fixtures on the horizon for West Ham.
The 58-year-old desperately needs to find a way of getting the best out of his new signigns.
He needs to settle on a clear system and his players need to understand what footballing philosophy he’s trying to implement at the London Stadium.
Things are looking bleak right now for Lopetegui, there’s no denying that.
But it could be set to get a whole lot worse according to one reporter…
Journalist says West Ham player could get Julen Lopetegui sacked
Mohammed Kudus acted disgracefully on Saturday when he raised his hands to two Tottenham players before being given his marching orders.
You could cut the tension with a knife when Kudus walked past Lopetegui on the sidelines after being dismissed.
His relationship with the Hammers boss was already a frosty one, after his half-time falling out with him during our clash with Brentford.
The 24-year-old Hammers forward let down Lopetegui, his teammates and the fans with his faux show of ‘passion’ on Saturday.
And one reporter has suggested that he may as well have marched Lopetegui down to the job centre…
iNews journalist Kat Lucas has suggested that Kudus’s actions during our defeat to Tottenham could lead to Lopetegui getting sacked.
“There is no point sugar-coating it – with his ludicrous behaviour right at the death, Mohammed Kudus may as well have marched Julen Lopetegui to the job centre.“
Obviously there is a chance that the Spaniard could be moved on, but I actually think that the Ghanaian’s red card and subsequent suspension could actually buy him more time.
West Ham will now have to make do without our best attacker for a minimum of three games.
Julen Lopetegui being unable to call upon Mohammed Kudus may well give him more grace from the fans and more importantly, the West Ham owners.
The Hammers have some really tough games on the horizon, including clashes with Manchester United, Newcastle and Arsenal.
What Kudus did on Saturday was unacceptable, but I think it could actually end up earning Lopetegui more sympathy.
That said, if results don’t improve, the pressure will crank up on the Spaniard regardless.
