West Ham seem to be involved in a significant blame game between head coach Julen Lopetegui and director of football Tim Steidten, with both reportedly taking pot-shots at each other through various media outlets.
Last month, it was widely reported that Steidten had warned Hammers owner David Sullivan against appointing Lopetegui, seemingly in an effort to distance himself from the decision.
Now, it appears the Spanish head coach is fighting back, revealing his dissatisfaction with the signing of Niclas Füllkrug.
This latest twist comes from talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, who suggests that Lopetegui is so unhappy with Füllkrug’s injury record that he’s demanding the club sign another striker in January. As reported by Martin earlier, Fullkrug has missed an incredible amount of football during the last five years prompting Dortmund to sell the player due to fitness concerns.
Regardless of which version of events one believes, it’s undoubtedly unhealthy for the club’s two top football figures to be pulling in opposite directions.
