Club sources have confirmed the earlier story that Niclas Fullkrug has returned to Germany for treatment.
The article in the Sun newspaper said the German International returned to his homework for recovery and he will have a series of injections.
The source told Claret and Hugh ‘Sadly it’s true, we don’t seem to be having any luck with this player”
Last week Julen Lopetegui told reporters gathered at a pre-match press conference “The problem is that Niclas had one minor injury at the start, but there’s been a bit of a complication with this injury, and we are waiting for him to recover. It’s true that we thought he would be out for two weeks maximum, but it’s been a month and a half. Hopefully he will be ready for the next matches, but right now he is out.”
West Ham are being compensated by the FIFA Club Protection Programme which is an insurance policy which pays out wages to clubs if a player is injured while on international duty. Fullkrug is thought to have suffered an injury against Hungary on 7 September some 46 days ago meaning the wages compensation kicked in 18 days ago as the first 28 days are not covered under the scheme.
