One West Ham United player was big trouble for the Hammers’ team last summer, turning down moves to the Premier League and Middle East despite orchestrating a move away – he appointed his own Middle East Sports Agent in order to accelerate a move a way from London Stadium.
Back in August we reported on Nayef Aguerd’s failed appointment of Canterasports (the same agency as Kurt Zouma) in a bod to pull off a move to the Saudi leagues.
In the end, West Ham were forced into a loan move rather than an outright sale on deadline day with Aguerd moving to Real Sociedad which gave the Hammers no time to arrange defensive cover.
His move has been so successful as we’ve been following: Estadiodeportivo.com have described Aguerd as ‘an elite defender’ and he keeps getting selected for Sociedad. When Aguerd left London he pretty much burned his bridges with his ‘goodbye’ messages to West Ham fans indicating he wan’t coming back any time soon.
So Tim Steidten must be a happy man that one of his loans-out is going to plan and it won’t surprise me one bit if Nayef Aguerd has his loan converted to a permanent deal in January.
West Ham won’t get anything like the £30 plus million they paid but even at a cut price of £20 million – more realistic – that budget plus the removal of Aguerd’s £90k estimated weekly salary will open up the capacity to bring in the desperately needed striker in January for very little financial outlay.Of course, the capital loss will have been amortised over 5 years anyway so there will only be a small ‘book loss’ for PSR.
A no-brainer, I’d say, and a rare ‘win-win-win’ for both clubs and for Aguerd himself.
Plus we get funds and salary for a decent young energetic FIT striker.
