London Stadium caterers Delaware North have finally complied with a West Ham concessionaire agreement but more through a stroke of luck than any judgment or deliberate strategy.
The London comparable club clause written into the 2103 London Stadium agreement between West Ham and London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) states the price of food and drink should not be above the average of Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal.
For at least the last two years Delaware North and LLDC breached that clause with the cheapest pint of beer at the London Stadium being £6.50 while the average cost across the three other clubs being £5.75. Spurs last season charged £5.19, Chelsea £5.70 while Arsenal also run by Delaware North charged £6.35 per pint.
At the beginning of this season, the London Stadium dropped the price of their cheapest beer (Amstel) by two pence to £6.48 but the other three all raised their prices.
Those present at Spurs last weekend found the cheapest print of beer (Heineken) now £6.25 up £1.06 per pint, Chelsea are now charging £6.50 up 80p per pint (Sigha) and Arsenal has increased their pint of beer (Budweiser) to £6.85 up 50p per pint.
The average price for a pint of beer across the three London comparable clubs is now £6.53 which is five pence above the £6.48 charged at the London Stadium.
