A top West Ham source has revealed to Claret & Hugh that the Hammers need to get more out of the nine players brought in over the summer.
The Hammers spent over £100m during the last transfer window, and while players like Max Kilman and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have become regulars in the team, there’s a belief that the club should be getting more bang for its buck.
The club source remarked, “We brought in nine players in the summer; we need to get more out of them!”
Although the West Ham insider was reluctant to point the finger at any individuals, it’s likely that Luis Guilherme and Niclas Füllkrug top the list of players who haven’t yet represented value for money.
Crysencio Summerville appears to be on the cusp of making more regular contributions, while free transfer Guido Rodriguez is a near-constant presence under Julen Lopetegui, along with Jean-Clair Todibo who is close to becoming a regular.
Wes Foderingham was presumably brought in as backup, while Carlos Soler, the 27-year-old PSG loanee, was expected to deputise for Lucas Paqueta. However, when starting against Manchester United on the left wing, he was completely ineffective.
Out of the nine players signed by West Ham in the summer, only three could be considered regular first-team starters, so it’s understandable why the club might expect a little more return.
