Leroy Sané is just getting started.
After nearly running himself into the ground last season under Thomas Tuchel, Sané has been slowly nursing himself back to full fitness this season at Bayern Munich. He earned his first start under new coach Vincent Kompany only this Wednesday, in the midweek DFB-Pokal clash against Mainz 05, and helped the Bavarians to a 4-0 victory — collecting a spectacular goal along the way.
Boy, is it good to see Sané back and starting to fire on all cylinders again. His teammates think so, too.
“It’s always fun with Leroy,” said attacking midfielder — and hat-trick hero of the day— Jamal Musiala, in comments captured by t-online journalist Julian Buhl (via @iMiaSanMia). “We’re really close and talk a lot. It was just cool to see him back on the pitch. We all know what qualities he has.”
Sané is no longer the only technically gifted left-footed winger in town, though, and will need to push to get into the lineup against the likes of newcomer Michael Olise.
