The Julen Lopetegui revolution at West Ham United has struggled to get off the ground so far.
However, last weekend’s win over Manchester United should serve as a good building block for Julen Lopetegui and his West Ham team to really kick on now.
The 58-year-old replaced David Moyes at the London Stadium officially on July 1st, but he has struggled to get a tune out of his new-look side as things stand.
It has actually been claimed that Lopetegui is under real pressure in his role as Hammers head coach.
However, I have no doubts that he’ll be given until the new year at the very least to prove himself.
Moving forward, Lopetegui has to show more faith in some of his summer signings – one of them in particular.
And it seems to me like he is about to do exactly that…
Julen Lopetegui building West Ham team around Crysencio Summerville
Crysencio Summerville produced an outstanding 45-minute match-winning display against Manchester United last weekend.
The Hammers fans were shocked when the former Leeds man didn’t start the game, but Lopetegui explained the reasoning for leaving him on the bench was because he wanted to unleash him on a tired Man United team in the second-half.
I actually believe that the West Ham head coach is planning to build his team around Summerville, and one statistic proves that in my mind.
According to the Evening Standard, Summerville has ‘received more progressive passes per 90 minutes than any of his team-mates in the Premier League this season’.
In my mind, that means that the 23-year-old’s Hammers teammates are looking for him more than any other player.
And that must filter down from Lopetegui.
I believe that Julen Lopetegui has instructed his West Ham players to find Crysencio Summerville as early as possible in transition.
Now all the Spaniard has to do is start the Dutchman every single week!
Summerville offers us something inside the final third that we don’t otherwise possess, what with his blistering pace and terrific movement.
I fully expect the winger to go from strength to strength now over the next few weeks and months.
