Julen Lopetegui is under intense pressure right now in his role as West Ham United head coach.
West Ham have begun the 2024/25 campaign in awful fashion, and questions are being asked regarding whether Julen Lopetegui is out of his depth at the London Stadium.
It has been suggested that Lopetegui could be sacked if the Hammers fail to produce a convincing performance against Everton on Saturday, let alone win the game.
In my opinion, it’s clear to see that Lopetegui is not the man we needed to replace David Moyes as the West Ham head coach in the summer.
Ruben Amorim was the one, but we didn’t push hard enough.
Even now, there are nine out-of-work managers who would be miles better than Lopetegui.
However, there is another gaffer who is currently available as a free agent, but the difference is, I wouldn’t want him anywhere near the club…
46-yo linked with replacing Julen Lopetegui at West Ham
Seriously, sometimes I think that Jeff Stelling’s sole job in life is to wind up the Hammers fans.
Or at least it seems like that has been the case since he left Sky and moved to talkSPORT.
He has taken regular pops at us as a fanbase over the past year or so, most recently when he rolled out the tired old ‘be careful what you wish for’ cliche regarding Lopetegui’s struggles at the London Stadium.
And now he’s been at it again, with a clear and obvious attempt to troll the West Ham fans, I’m sure of it.
Stelling has now suggested on talkSPORT that Frank Lampard would be a good option for West Ham.
What an incredibly bizarre shout that is.
Stelling said, “I’m going to mention someone who might divide opinions.“
“Is it time, if Lopetegui goes, for West Ham to bring Frank Lampard home? Just a thought.“
“He is available. He’s been mentioned in connection with the Roma job, but West Ham would be ideal for him.“
I’m sorry, but does Stelling actually know his footballing history?
Is he aware of the animosity the Hammers fans have for Lampard?
I actually think that the suggestion from Stelling is an insult to every single West Ham fan out there.
Lampard suggestion an insult to every single Hammer
The relationship between Lampard and the Hammers faithful turned sour when he demanded to be sold to our London rivals Chelsea back in 2001.
He even suggested that he wasn’t liked by the supporters. Anyone who grew up watching Lampard play for the Hammers will know this wasn’t true.
After joining Chelsea, Lampard went on to criticise West Ham and our fans on numerous occasions.
When the 46-year-old scored against us, he would kiss the Chelsea badge, in a completely unnecessary act of vengefulness.
I don’t want Frank Lampard anywhere near the West Ham job, even though I want Julen Lopetegui gone.
The suggestion from Stelling was a farcical one, but no shock to me given the fact that he now works for talkSPORT.
