Lille midfielder Angel Gomes is on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move to sign a new midfielder in the upcoming winter transfer window, and the Lilywhites have been vying for a move for LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes as they look to add quality in the middle of the park.
Despite investing millions during the summer transfer window to reshape the squad, head coach Ange Postecoglou will be handed further opportunities to bolster his squad in the upcoming windows. Lille’s Angel Gomes is firmly in the sights of Daniel Levy and Johan Lange, and it looks like the north Londoners have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the midfielder.
According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Angel Gomes is eager to complete a switch to the Premier League ahead of the 2025/26 season amid interest from Tottenham and a few English clubs.
The former Manchester United academy graduate has taken strides in his game in the past couple of years in Ligue 1. At 24, he only broke into the senior England side earlier this year and appears to want a new adventure, having entered the final eight months on his contract at Lille (Transfermarkt).
And with his deal running out at the end of the ongoing campaign, the French side may consider selling Gomes for a bargain fee rather than losing him on a free transfer in the following summer. Spurs’ Premier League rivals Manchester United and Aston Villa are also keen on the diminutive playmaker’s signature. The interest in Gomes doesn’t end there; Bundesliga sides Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are keeping tabs on his situation at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy too.
Spurs have sensed an opportunity to sign the England international on a cut-price deal as his contract runs down at Lille, or else, they could sign a pre-contract agreement with the player at the start of the New Year.
However, the aforementioned report adds the north London outfit will only move forward with a proposal should they feel Gomes’ financial demands are practical. The 24-year-old, who is currently earning less than £11,500-per-week at Lille, may demand around £150,000-per-week when his suitors head to the negotiating table. That could prove to be an obstacle for Spurs as they want to remain watchful when it comes to maintaining their wage structure.
Spurs let go of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso in the summer transfer window and didn’t replace their experience in the squad, something that has cost Postecoglou on multiple occasions in the ongoing campaign. Gomes, in that regard, will be perfect to go into the roster, bringing creativity, mobility and dynamism to their midfield.

That said, it depends on the Hotspur Way chiefs whether they decide to go ahead with their plans to sign the Lille star in 2025.
