According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega will receive his first call-up from German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann:
Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega will be called up by Julian Nagelsmann for the first time for Germany’s upcoming Nations League games this month.
The goalkeeper position is in a state of flux for Germany. Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer retired, FC Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen suffered a long-term injury, and Nagelsmann is looking for someone to hold down the fort.
Bernd Leno rejected a chance to join Germany during the last international break, so Alexander Nübel and Oliver Baumann have been tasked with trying to provide cover.
Now, Ortega could get a chance to throw his hat into the ring as well.
