Mohammed Kudus is being heavily linked with an exit from West Ham United either in January or next summer.
West Ham star Mohammed Kudus is said to be a transfer target for Arsenal and unsurprisingly, that news filled the Hammers fans with dread.
We lost our star man Declan Rice to the Gunners in the summer of 2023, and if we’re honest, our midfield hasn’t been the same since.
The thought of losing another superstar to our London rivals hurts but if we’re all honest with ourselves, we all knew the day when Kudus leaves will not be too far away.
The Ghanian has been sensational for since arriving from Ajax for £38 million in the summer of 2023, his head-loss against Tottenham three weeks ago not withstanding.
Kudus has bagged 16 goals and seven assists in 55 games for the Hammers, and he has been our standout player over the past 15 months, alongside Jarrod Bowen of course.
The 24-year-old has an £85 million buyout clause – one that can be activated from July onwards.
So we will be powerless to stop Kudus from leaving. What we do hold power over is getting our ducks in a row, and lining up potential replacements for the Ghanaian now.
And the good news is that that’s exactly what the Hammers are doing…
West Ham have Mohammed Kudus replacement lined up
If the worst happens and Kudus does leave in the summer, it won’t be all bad.
We’ll get £85 million for him for a start! And if the Hammers have a couple of ready-made replacements lined up, who knows…we might even emerge stronger from his exit.
One player in particular seems to be drawing admiring glances from the West Ham transfer team.
Claret and Hugh have claimed that Club Brugge winger Andreas Skov Olsen is on the Hammers’ radar as a potential replacement for Mohammed Kudus.
Football Insider have claimed that the 24-year-old could cost up to £30 million.
The 35-capped Denmark international has bagged an impressive 46 goals and 26 assists in 114 games for Club Brugges (Transfermarkt).
Olsen is a left-footed right winger, and is a very talented young player.
The Dane is technically gifted, possesses decent pace and has a wicked shot on him.
However, word of warning – he’s no Mo Kudus.
The key for West Ham will be to sign two players who can replicate the output Mohammed Kudus gives us.
Losing him will obviously not be ideal, but there is a way whereby we can improve after his exit.
However, let’s hope the Hammers owners have learned from the mistake they made back in 2023 when they failed to replace Rice sufficiently.
