Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg revealed what C&H reported last week—that West Ham’s match against Everton is a must-win game.
Adding another twist to the unfolding story, Steinberg—who maintains strong connections at the London Stadium—has named additional candidates for Julen Lopetegui’s Hammers job.
C&H sources at West Ham confirmed that Saturday’s Premier League game against Everton is seen as a must-win. In his column, Steinberg reports that the Hammers will review the head coach’s position if they lose to the Toffees.
Intriguingly, Steinberg also mentioned Sebastian Hoeness, Kasper Hjulmand, and Roger Schmidt as potential candidates for the Irons’ top job—all fresh additions to the rumoured list.
Steinberg further noted that West Ham had previously shown little interest in Graham Potter, despite recent links. While Potter is among the bookmakers’ favourites, C&H was informed at the time: “He’s done a good job at Brighton, but much of the success was due to the owner.”
