One of the most ferocious positional battles at Bayern Munich is at right-wing where incumbent Leroy Sané and newcomer Michael Olise are vying for time.
During Bayern Munich’s 1-0 victory over Benfica in the Champions League, Sané, who surprisingly did not start, came on for Olise (who was okay) and made an instant impact. Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany understands that he has access to a wealth of talent at both wing positions.
“We’re happy to have a lot of quality in the position with Leroy, Michael, King and Serge. We want to use everyone. Leroy changed the game today. They all scored goals and contributed well this season so far. Leroy did very well after he was subbed on today,” Kompany said (via @iMiaSanMia).
That foursome will be competing hardcore for playing time, but it does give Kompany the opportunity to use a rotation, which could make all four players better for the long run of this arduous season.
