Chelsea face Noah at Stamford Bridge in the UEFA Europa Conference League in just under an hour, and the teams are in!
It’s the usual B team, but with even more weird and wonderful stuff going on.
Where do we start? It’s a pretty standard B team back five, by the looks of things. Filip Jorgensen is in goal with the chance to impress ahead of Robert Sanchez once again. Then Axel Disasi plays right back, Tosin and Benoit Badiashile in the middle, with Renato Veiga at right back.
Enzo Fernandez continues his demotion to B squad in central midfield – now this is where things get funky. Playing alongside him appear to be Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku. That’s got to be the most attack XI in terms of selection we’ve ever put out.
Marc Guiu leads the line, with Mykhailo Mudryk and academy talent Tyrique George out wide, as was predicted earlier today.. That’s a really exciting trio to try and damage some likely pretty poor opposition. We’d better hope they’re poor – we’re fielding a team with a striker, two wingers, two number tens and one midfielder who can barely defend on a good day.
Still, the quality we have out there should mean we spend the game dominating the ball on the edge of their box, so no problems there.
The bench is crammed with talent, as you’d expect. From academy goalkeeper Max Merrick to squad outcast Carney Chukwuemeka to the out of favour Marc Cucurella, finishing with Sam Rak-Sakyi, another Cobham star who featured on the bench against Panathinaikos in our last game in this competition.
Let’s hope for lots of goals, no injuries, and plenty of impressive showings from the youngsters.
