Leroy Sané was once an integral part of the German national squad. But it has been 4 months since the Bayern Munich player last played under former club coach Julian Nagelsmann for his country.
The 28 year old winger is going to be left out yet again for the country’s upcoming games in the UEFA Nations League, and perhaps given his current form, it is probably a good thing. Although he is rediscovering his form, it may take time for him to get back to his peak. And that is exactly why Nagelsmann has made the decision to leave him out of the squad. According to a report from Florian Plettenburg, it is because DFB wants to let Sané have his time to develop before playing for Germany again. Allowing him the time to find his form again is exactly what Sané needs right now.
He isn’t alone though. Leon Goretzka was also left out of the most recent call ups by Nagelsmann, but then again, the struggling midfielder has not played for his country is a year now. Both Bayern players are on the same path right now; to redemption, and it will be an interesting journey, seeing where they end up down the road.
