Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta both failed to fire for West Ham United against Everton on Saturday.
West Ham duo Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta are incredibly talented, but neither of them have been anywhere near good enough this season.
In my opinion, Bowen has been struggling in his role as captain, with his inability to immediately face up to the press after poor results a big sign that he’s not the man for the job.
Meanwhile, Paqueta’s problems have been well-documented, as he faces a lifetime ban if proven guilty of the betting breach charges being levelled against him.
We should be nowhere near where we are in the Premier League table right now, considering the players we have at the London Stadium.
However, some of them just aren’t performing, it’s as simple as that.
And Paqueta has been the worst offender of the lot this season.
All is not well after what Jarrod Bowen did to Lucas Paqueta
The 0-0 draw at the London Stadium yesterday was one of the worst games I have seen in my life.
However, there was a point during the final 20 minutes of the game when Everton seemed to sit back, and had we taken the impetus and really pushed for the win, things might have been different.
The Hammers players seriously lacked any kind of quality inside the final third on Saturday.
And one incident in particular epitomised our performance.
With just under 70 minutes on the clock, the ball fell to Paqueta just outside the penalty area.
Bowen was screaming for the ball on the edge of the six-yard box, completely unmarked.
However, the Brazilian attempted a ridiculously difficult ‘dink’ pass over the Everton defenders, and the ball just rolled harmlessly out of play.
Bowen was furious as he screamed at Paqueta and threw his arms above his head in dismay at his teammate’s baffling decision.
It was the most animated I have ever seen Bowen.
All is clearly not well at West Ham right now, and Jarrod Bowen’s reaction to Lucas Paqueta’s poor pass in the 70th minute of our 0-0 draw with Everton was very telling.
