Peculiar how some players were dropped like hot cakes last August and virtually forced out on loan – some such as James Ward-Prowse and Maxi Cornet left on deadline day. It Seemed West Ham United couldn’t wait to get rid of several squad members fast enough, presumably to free up places for subsequent ‘incomers’ – who then didn’t materialise seeing as we still have unfilled places in our squad.
From sources today comes news that defender Nayef Aguerd’s loan is going so well – as we’ve reported frequently – at Real Sociedad this season – that none other than Real Madrid are interested in buying the Moroccan. According to Spanish source fichajes.net, reported in hardtackle.com:”Nayef Aguerd is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window after Eder Militao picked up a season-ending knee injury.
The Moroccan international has thus emerged as a target. However, Los Blancos will have to break the loan deal between Real Sociedad and West Ham United to land him.”
Complicated but not impossible negotiations might need to follow!
Aguerd has been an ever-present in the Sociedad team, starting 12 games this season and amassed over 1000 minutes of game time. If true, Tim Steidten (pictured) had better get his eye back on the ball fairly quickly because there’s potentially a £30 million transfer fee up for grabs which would buy West Ham a new, up and coming attacking midfielder in the January window.
Alternatively he could come back at the end of the season and become our fourth centre back, after all, if he’s good enough for Real Madrid..
