According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is looking to reduce its wage bill with sale of either Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman, or Serge Gnabry:
Bayern are planning further reduction of the wage bill – therefore, one of Sané, Coman or Gnabry is expected to leave the club next summer if possible.
Coman, under contract until 2027, was close to moving to Saudi Arabia last summer, but a deal fell through in the last minute. A move next summer is still conceivable both for the club and the player. The Frenchman, who earns around €17m gross per year at Bayern, is unwilling to take a pay cut in case of a move.
Sané’s future remains uncertain, even though the player’s clear preference is to stay. Talks are ongoing, but there’s still no concrete offer from Bayern. Sané would have to take a pay cut to extend his contract. There’s talk of a 25% reduction, which means a €15m/year gross salary instead of €20m. Arsenal and Manchester United are showing interest.
Gnabry, who was a candidate for sale last summer, showed improved performances at the start of this season. But he has to continue to deliver to secure his future. The German international is under contract until 2026 and earns around €19m gross per year.
It seems as if it a near certainty that one of the veteran wingers will move on. All three are putting a big dent into the club’s payroll and while all three have performed admirably for the most this season, it does seem like it is time to refresh the position.
