Sergio Reguilón was a Europa League winner a little over four years ago, regarded as a high-rated up-and-coming left-back at the time. Currently, he has not had a single minute of professional football since May despite being available in that time.
He wants to leave Tottenham. The club want him out as well. All that remains now is to find a new employer.
José Mourinho wants Sergio Reguilón in January
As reported by Sabah, Fenerbahçe boss José Mourinho wants to reunite with Sergio Reguilón in Türkiye in January.
The 27-year-old has been frozen out of the Tottenham first team ever since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival last year. After spending last season on loan at first Man United and then Brentford, the Spain international was unable to leave North London in the summer and remains at the club.
Recent reports have suggested that Reguilón may choose to terminate his contract altogether in order to get a new club.
Reguilón is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €12 million, and his £53k-per-week Spurs contract runs out at the end of the season.
Make it happen
Any money Tottenham can get in exchange for Reguilón at this point would be a bonus. They may not want to bolster Mourinho, but they do need the Spaniard’s wages off their bill.
Reguilón is going to need game time to regain proper match fitness first and foremost before he goes about establishing himself as a left-back capable of operating at the top level again. It is absolutely imperative for all parties included they make the deal happen as soon as possible.
