For those of you asking who that is in the lead image today, it’s Jamie Donley who is currently on loan at Leyton Orient.
Gosh, I’m so sick of international week. I don’t even bother watching any of the international fixtures unless it’s the final round in the World Cup qualifiers, and we’re a long way from there.
So I’m going to be watching some better football this weekend. That’s right, I’ll be slumming it in Leagues One and Two.
I know precious little about any of these four teams, except the whole Welcome To Wrexham thing. But that makes this weekend all the more interesting to watch because Stockport County were their biggest promotion rivals in League Two last year.
And Stockport County are also among a number of promotion/playoff rivals for Wrexham this year. So consider this an early six-pointer.
Now, I must admit, we are kind of starved for choices. Many of the games are postponed.
That leaves us with three options to choose from: Exeter City-Lincoln City, Stockport County-Wrexham, Blackpool-Northampton and Bristol Rovers-Crawley Town.
(Leyton Orient unfortunately aren’t playing this weekend. They’re also unfortunately struggling in the league this season.)
I see two good options here: Exeter City-Lincoln City and Stockport County-Wrexham. The Welsh club defeated County 2-1 in their most recent encounter, which occurred on the final day of the League 2 season. So this one should be a little more interesting.
Now I know even less about League Two, but I see a couple exciting battles around the playoff spots. First is Notts County (3) against Crewe Alexandria (5) and Port Vale (1) vs poor Morecambe (24).
Still, the latter should be a dramatic view for those of us interesting in the long-term repercussions for Morecambe, who are struggling mightly financially.
