With the international break upon us, it’s a nice moment to take a look back at some of the events that got lost in the shuffle over the last couple of weeks.
By the time the Conference League game against Noah came around last Thursday, we were already all thinking about the Arsenal game coming up on Sunday, so Tyrique George’s senior debut didn’t get as much attention as it deserved.
But it’s potentially a huge moment for a player with a sky high ceiling. If he goes on to be a Chelsea legend, we’ll all be remembering the match against the Biblically named Armenians. The young winder spoke to the club’s official website about his feelings after the win and getting to make a first start for his boyhood club at Stamford Bridge, as well as his plans for the future.
George on his first step towards stardom
“I want to get more games with the men’s team and am eager to contribute, whether that means getting an assist or scoring a goal. I just want to enjoy every chance I get because opportunities like this don’t come around often. If my younger self could see me now, he wouldn’t believe how far I have come, and hopefully what’s to come,” George glowed in a really sweet interview.
“I would tell that young boy who just joined Chelsea’s Academy to keep working hard and enjoy the journey, as you never know how far you can go. There are great opportunities here and if you put in the effort, anything is possible. I look forward to continuing my time at the club and hopefully I can show people what I am capable of.”
Enzo Maresca will have plenty more chances to use the teenager this season – so he should get his wish.
