Manchester City target Martin Zubimendi has addressed rumours linking him with a move away from Real Sociedad in the January transfer window.
The Cityzens, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been credited with an interest in the Spanish international but, when asked about the speculation, the midfielder kept his cards close to his chest:
“There will always be rumours and now that January is approaching, there will be too, but I don’t waste energy on outside noise. I’m happy with the way I’m handling it and I’m going to handle it.”
Most City fans on X are simply pleased that Zubimendi did not completedly reject the prospect of a switch in the New Year:
He’s trying to be nonchalant, but once we come knocking he’ll know what to do.

In other words “i am not saying anything” he hasn’t said anything to warrant “him not coming to city”

Zubimendi has a release clause in his contract
Agreeing a deal for the 25-year-old is pretty straightforward. He has a €60m (£50m) buyout fee in his contract that any team can trigger.
If City do want to sign Zubimendi in January then they won’t have any issues in terms of being able to afford him.
City have to convince him to move to the Etihad
The fact that Zubimendi hasn’t completely ruled out a transfer will give the Premier League champions some hope that he would be open to a transfer.
However, he has rejected overtures from English clubs on more than one occasion in recent years so City will need to put in the hard yards in order to persuade him.
