West Ham United left-back Emerson Palmieri has now made 93 appearances for the club.
He has firmly established himself as one of the most important players at the club.
Emerson Palmieri has proven to be an extremely good value for money signing for West Ham, after we prised him away from Chelsea for just £13 million in 2022.
However, Emerson has struggled somewhat this season, just like most of his teammates have, and he has received huge criticism from pundits like Jamie Carragher.
The Italy international is the best left-back at the London Stadium by a very long way, so we need him to rediscover his best form.
That’s the frustrating thing right now – we have so many good players, but hardly any of them are at the peak of their powers.
Perhaps that’s why West Ham are struggling to much, and once everyone finds their form, we will begin climbing the table.
One player at the club can always be counted on to give 100% per cent, even when he’s not playing well.
And Emerson has just offered huge words of praise for him.
Emerson Palmieri says he hated playing against West Ham star
The 30-year-old left-back never liked coming face to face with one Hammer in particular, during his time with Chelsea.
Jarrod Bowen was the man who the Italy international simply couldn’t handle.
Emerson spoke on West Ham’s official Iron Cast podcast, and he absolutely raved about Bowen.
The Hammers full-back highlighted what makes the 27-year-old former Hull City star so difficult to play against.
“I played against Jarrod, I think, was the first time, I think. Oh my God. I say, Oh my God, this guy doesn’t stop, he doesn’t stop,” Emerson said.
“He doesn’t stop running, he will not stop running. Like I go forward, he always with me. And they always win West Ham, he covers the ball, He goes the other way. It’s not easy to try to find the space,” Emerson added.
Emerson is spot on – Bowen has always been one of the hardest workers in the game.
It’s something you don’t see from attacking players really nowadays, so we should think ourselves very lucky that we have Bowen at the London Stadium.
West Ham need Bowen to get back to his old self
As good as the 27-year-old undoubtedly is, he hasn’t been anywhere near his best this season.
He certainly hasn’t hit the heights of last term yet, when he bagged 20 goals and 10 assists for the Hammers.
Bowen has just four goals and two assists to his name so far this season, and it seems to me like the responsibility of the wearing the captains armband is weighing heavily on him.
I’m hoping that Jarrod grows into that role, and his goal for England against Ireland on Sunday should give him a huge confidence boost.
If the Hammers are to enjoy a successful 2024/25 campaign, Lopetegui needs to find a way of getting the best out of Bowen.
I’m sure he will return to his best sooner rather than later.
As Emerson Palmieri says, Jarrod Bowen is an incredibly hard worker, so even when he’s not playing well, he’s still a vital cog in the West Ham machine.
