Arsenal have contacted the agent of midfielder Gabriel Carvalho to inform them that they’re willing to match the latest offer from Saudi Arabia to sign the player, according to a report.
Juliano Machado reports on his YouTube channel that Arsenal have made contact with the agent of Internacional midfielder Gabriel Carvalho.
Carvalho is drawing interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, but Arsenal have reportedly informed the player’s representatives that they’re willing to match the Saudi offer of €22m (£18.2m) with a 20% sell-on clause.
The transfer won’t happen anytime soon though, with Carvalho unable to join Arsenal until he turns 18 in August 2025. If the Gunners really are planning a move, it would probably go through in the latter stages of next summer’s window.
Carvalho has a contract with Internacional until December 2028, having only stepped up into senior football this year.
The midfielder has made 26 appearances for Internacional’s first team in 2024, scoring once and providing three assists. 11 of those appearances came from the bench, so he was still very much establishing himself throughout the last 12 months.
A strong dribbler who works hard off the ball making tackles and blocks, Carvalho clearly has some attributes that Arsenal like in their midfielders. But he still has areas for improvement, which is unsurprising at his age.
Carvalho was called up by the Brazil u20s earlier this season, though he’s yet to feature on the pitch for the side.
This is one to keep an eye on over the next six months, before we find out next summer whether Mikel Arteta is adding another Gabriel to his collection.
