Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring some exciting reinforcements to the squad at White Hart Lane with the Lilywhites looking at Argentine starlet Julio Soler as Daniel Levy continues to walk on the newly adapted transfer strategy to bring in high-potential young players at White Hart Lane and develop them along the corridors of Hotspur Way.
The 19-year-old starlet is currently plying his trade with Lanus in the Argentinian Primera Division but is linked with a potential exit in the upcoming winter transfer window, with multiple clubs making an approach to land his signature.
Soler fits into Postecoglou’s playing style
Soler plays in the left-back role and is an offensively minded player much like former Boca Juniors sensation Valentín Barco, and his low centre of gravity complemented by his smaller frame helps him easily glide through the opponents. And while he is an offensive-minded fullback, he has shown glimpses of being quite responsible in his defensive duties. The teenager is continually making darting interception runs back and is a persistent presence on the winger’s shoulders, making him an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s playing style.
The Australian head coach likes to play an attacking brand of football and push his players forward into offensive spaces. We have seen Destiny Udogie thrive in that highly attacking style of play; however, there have been criticisms about the trackbacks and defensive responsibilities, and getting in someone who has been fairly shown that defensive responsibility would be ideal for the North Londoners.
Bournemouth take first steps in landing Argentine sensation
Any pursuit of Julio Soler will not come easy given how Tottenham’s North London neighbours Arsenal are also looking at the player; however, while the North London duo ponders whether to make a move for the 19-year-old defender, Premier League rivals Bournemouth have made the first move.
The Cherries are looking at a move for Soler as they look to replace current left-back Milos Kerkez, who is a man in demand, and signing the £15m player could be the next step that Bournemouth takes on.
Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool are also said to be keeping an eye on the situation.
